Assimilation Pastor

The Assimilation Pastor is responsible for providing oversight to Baptisms, the First Steps Room, and Next Steps Classes at the Riverside Campus. This unique and rewarding pastoral role deals heavily with helping people take their first steps as they go from irreligious to fully devoted followers of Christ. The Assimilation Pastor, with the Assimilation Team, will help lead and guide the people of Sagebrush Church from their initial decision to trust in Jesus to joining the Small Group Community and engaging in discipleship.

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate pastor who truly cares for irreligious people. This role requires strong motivation and desire to reach those who are lost, as well as dedication to following up, valuing each individual, providing guidance as they make spiritual decisions, and encouraging people to pursue the next step in their walk with Christ.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A dynamic and growing relationship with Christ.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Bible and biblical principles sufficient to answer difficult questions and guide new believers. Education in biblical studies, Seminary, or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • 1-2 years of ministry experience. Specific discipleship experience preferred. In lieu of experience, education and/or volunteer work may be considered.
  • Valid pastoral ordination from a recognized ordination board or the ability to attain ordination within 6 months is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to triage tasks and balance competing priorities.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills necessary to build rapport quickly. Ability to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and via text.  
  • Genuine desire to help others and to pursue the Great Commission.
  • Flexible schedule to allow for teaching classes and attending events as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Be an approachable and friendly presence in the lobby before and after services when not in the First Steps Room.
  • Observe at least one service and assist with disruptions if needed.
  • Be a resource for attendees and volunteers in the First Steps Room after services. Provide guidance and support as people make spiritual decisions.
  • Record metrics related to Assimilation for reporting and tracking purposes. Provide reports with relevant information to leadership on a weekly basis.
  • Oversee the Baptism process including: recruiting and working alongside volunteers, answering questions, and coordinating with the Facilities and Worship teams to ensure adequate planning.
  • Welcome and encourage attendees who come forward during alter call services. Direct them to the First Steps room.
  • Use a proactive approach to communication and planning to coordinate, track, and follow up on all aspects of the Assimilation process including baptism and classes.
  • Lead engaging classes to disciple believers at different stages in their walk with Christ. Actively identify and recruit leaders to teach classes.
  • Collaborate with the Executive group director to create processes and plans as ministry needs arise.  
  • Communicate regularly with attendees to guide them in taking the next step in their faith.
